It all started when I decided to create a batch of Enchanted Glow Dust for Cheryl’s upcoming Business Witch Academy mixer. Simple task, right? Wrong. Glow Dust is supposed to shimmer delicately in the air, adding an ethereal sparkle to any event. Key word: supposed.
I was halfway through the recipe—mixing powdered moonbeam, a pinch of star salt, and exactly three drops of luminescent dew—when I got distracted. Cheryl had walked in with a plate of chocolate croissants, and you KNOW how I feel about those flaky, buttery masterpieces. So, there I was, scarfing down croissants and chatting about the merits of adding sparkles to spreadsheets, when my tail accidentally knocked over an entire jar of Gleaming Goblin Goo into the cauldron.
“Oh no,” I whispered, my big eyes widening as the cauldron started bubbling, hissing, and—uh-oh—giggling?
Cheryl raised an eyebrow. “Ophelia, what did you do?”
“I think I…improved it?” I said, trying to sound confident as green smoke started pouring out of the cauldron.
Before either of us could react, the cauldron erupted like a glittery volcano. Puffs of glowing, giggling dust burst into the room, coating everything. The shelves, the walls, Cheryl’s tea—oh, and let’s not forget me. I was glowing like a disco ball that had just been hit with a “fabulous” spell.
“Ophelia!” Cheryl exclaimed, coughing through the glitter fog.
“I know, I know! But look how PRETTY it is!” I twirled around, leaving a trail of giggles and sparkles in my wake.
Here’s the thing: despite the utter chaos, the Glow Dust was a hit. It didn’t just shimmer; it giggled, sparkled, and made everyone in the room feel inexplicably cheerful. Cheryl ended up using it at the mixer, and people couldn’t stop raving about the “Joyful Glow Effect.” I’ve even had requests for more, though Cheryl insists I test it outside next time.
